Artist Statement- Zine

I ended up going in a completely different direction for this project. Originally, I wanted to base the zine on my experience as a trans person. But I found that I couldn't get what I wanted to say across in zine format. So, I decided to focus on art to represent and showcase one of the smaller things in life that brings me happiness: cats on TikTok. For each cat/account, I ended up drawing a rendition of them in Illustrator, as well as making a page in Photoshop that had a picture of the actual cat and an object/objects to represent them, usually based on their names.
Working on this project gave me a chance to play around with Illustrator. I already had experience with Photoshop going into this project, and I was pretty confident on that end. But with Illustrator, I had pretty much no experience, so it took a bit to get used to how the program works differently than the programs I'm used to using.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with how my finished product turned out. There're some pages that I didn't get a chance to add due to time restraints though. I think I might try and tweak some parts of my zine that I got feedback on, as well as add the other pages I had to leave out. I think I'd also try and find a better printer to use, because the one I used wasn't the best quality and I think some of the color I used in my project was lost when I printed it.
