What Is Digital Art? – A Look at the Exciting Digital Art Movement by Charlene Lewis is an article that goes into what digital art is. Lewis discusses several different types of digital art— computer generated art, 2D and 3D rendering, and computer animation to name just a few— as well as some of the benefits and drawbacks of the style. While this article doesn’t get into it too much, a bit of the history of digital art is brought up as well, mentioning artist Andy Warhol and one of his exhibitions using digital art in the 1980s. It’s interesting to see how far back digital art actually goes, and what is considered digital art. I think that many people think of digital art as a thing of the present and future, given that a lot of the technology for digital art has only come about in the last few decades. However, it’s cool to see that this article considers stuff produced a lot longer ago as digital art as well, and thinking about it, it does make sense to see it that way. So, while digital art has definitely become more prevalent and advanced in recent years, the art form is far from just being a new fad that’ll die out in a few years. It’s been around for much longer than people think, and I believe it will stick around and continue to evolve for many years to come.
