This is my second time reading this article, and I will link my previous blog post on it here. I think that the author’s points about visual literacy in this age of media still hold true. There’s such a flood of information thrust upon everyone constantly, but so many people don’t have any idea how to process the information or look at it critically, which leads to everything being taken at face value. However, in this digital age, it’s incredibly important to be critical of nearly everything we see online, even if that just means double checking a source or fact checking a news article. However, it can also go deeper, as it can also be important to analyze something online in its entirety and pick apart every little detail of it in order to fully understand it. I personally think that media literacy should be integrated into how literacy is taught in general, as so much of what we consume nowadays is online in some way shape or form. I think having a good grasp of media literacy can make navigating digital spaces a lot easier and less daunting for everyone.
